A: It is a moderately challenging trek making it ideal for fit beginners and experienced trekkers alike. The most popular route from Viswema offers a gradual ascent followed by a steep 1 hour climb, then flattens out into a scenic walk across the valley’s grassy plateau. While the trek doesn’t require technical skills, decent fitness, proper footwear, and mental readiness are essential.

- How to Plan your Travel for the Dzukou Valley Trek:
Flights, Trains, Buses, and All Essential Travel Details. Travespert’s base camp for the Dzukou Valley Trek is located in Jakhama Village, a peaceful hillside village about 18 km from the main bustling capital of Nagaland, Kohima.
You must reach on Day 1 of your trek at:
– Travespert Dzukou Base in Jakhama by 8:00 AM, or
– Viswema Village Sumo Station by 8:30 AM
You can arrive at the starting point on your own, or Travespert can arrange transportation from Kohima to either Jakhama or Viswema upon request.
We highly recommend that you arrive in Kohima, Jakhama or Viswema a day before. For example, if the Day 1 of your trek is 25th July, book your tickets to reach Kohima, Jakhama or Viswema by 24th July. This gives you a buffer to account for unexpected delays and also allows you to rest well before starting your trek.

Kohima is easily accessible by road from Dimapur. However, there are stretches that are prone to frequent landslides, often leading to delays. Keep this in mind while planning your journey.

Viswema is 23 km from the main center of Kohima. Depart from the Kohima ISBT Bus Stand or BOC Taxi Stand and take about 25–60 minutes to reach Viswema.
